Earn $500 toward your education by telling your story! Combs Law Group is excited to announce our current scholarship essay contest. See below for scholarship contest terms.

At times, life grants us unexpected opportunities to begin anew, offering second chances that can alter the course of our future. Whether it’s overcoming a personal setback, mending a broken relationship, or triumphing over a significant challenge like a test or an assignment, second chances empower us to rewrite our narratives and redefine our ambitions.

Think about a time in your life when someone offered you a fresh start, or you did the same for someone else. Maybe that second chance was all you needed to successfully springboard into the next chapter of your life. Or perhaps that extended branch was all another person needed to lift themselves up from despair.

The Prompt and Submission Requirements

A 500-1,000 word essay about “Second Chances”

Tell us about a time that someone offered you a fresh start, or you did the same for someone else. You may want to elaborate on the positive changes and growth that resulted from this second chance. While the prompt is meant to be open-ended, you may choose to share the story of the situation you were in, who the person was, the influence the experience had on your goals, the lessons you learned and how you intend to pay it forward, etc. Provide a personal and thoughtful perspective.

For your essay, please:

  • include your full name and an essay title
  • write between 500 – 1,000 words (longer does not always mean better!)
  • attach it as a PDF, txt, doc, or docx file
  • send it in by Monday, Dec. 18

One winner will be selected based on a quality essay and adherence to the submission rules and requirements. The winning essay will utilize correct grammar and spelling, meet the submission deadline, demonstrate strong writing skills and approach the prompt from a unique and personal perspective. You may follow any accepted style (AP, MLA, Chicago or other) of your choosing.
